The National Foundation for Communal Harmony organized a well – attended mega Award Presentation Ceremony at Vigyan Bhawan on Friday, the 20th September 2013. The Hon’ble President of India Shri Pranab Mukherjee conferred the National Communal Harmony Awards to Shri Khamliana, Shri Md. Abdul Bari and the Foundation for Amity & National Solidarity. The Vice President Shri Mohammad Hamid Ansari and the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh also graced the occasion. Invitations to dignitaries and guests were sent by the Union Home Minister Shri Sushilkumar Shinde who was the host of the Event.
In his welcome address, Union Home Minister Shri Sushikumar Shinde welcomed all the dignitaries and guests who attended the function. Shri Shinde said that the National Communal Harmony Awards recognize the important and useful work done by individuals and organizations to spread the message of peace, love, goodwill and universal brotherhood for promoting harmony in the society and strengthening national integration. He said that every citizen of our country has a right to live with his or her individual faith, yet keep the identity of being Indian supreme and above all other considerations.
